Made in 2002, this is one of the older films to be offered to British moviegoers as a new release, and frankly it should have stayed in the deep freeze. Eugenio is a truly awful example of the worst in Italian cinema: sentimental, manipulative and cloying.

Giancarlo Giannini, a non-disabled actor, impersonates a Down's Syndrome adult. The resulting performance, though excruciatingly well-meaning, is for me almost unwatchable.
