Jacob Elordi, Jenna Ortega and Stephen Fry are among the 529 creatives invited to join this year’s member class of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

“We are delighted to invite this remarkable group of film artists and professionals from around the world to join the Academy,” said CEO Bill Kramer and Academy president Lynette Howell Taylor in a statement. “Through their commitment to filmmaking, this year’s exceptionally talented class has made significant contributions to our global movie industry.”

Elordi was nominated for his first Oscar earlier this year for his transformative performance as the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Ortega has been on a hot streak with record-breaking viewership for the Wednesday series and an upcoming role in the upcoming film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun.

Meanwhile, Fry is an outlier to many of this year’s younger creatives. While best known for British TV roles, he has starred in more than a dozen Hollywood productions including Gosford Park, V for Vendetta and Love & Friendship. He was also nominated for a best actor Golden Globe award for 1998’s Wilde, and has hosted the Bafta awards 12 times.

The list also features Teyana Taylor, who was also nominated in this year’s best supporting actress category but lost out to Amy Madigan in Weapons. Also invited is Josh O’Connor, who starred in the Netflix hit Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and was recently seen in Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day.

Other creatives include Mia Goth, Elordi’s co-star in Frankenstein, as well as Jon Bernthal, the actor who was recently seen in Broadway’s Dog Day Afternoon and is set for summer movie screens with roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

Additional names from this year’s Oscar race include the Weapons director and actor Zach Cregger and Julia Garner, as well as the KPop Demon Hunters co-directors Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang and the singing star Ejae.

If all invitations are accepted, the total number of Academy members will be 11,319 while the number of voting members will rise to 10,338. It would also make the Academy members 36% women, 25% from underrepresented communities and 22% international.

The Oscars recently announced rule changes ahead of the 2027 awards season that banned acting and writing awards for work done by AI, and allowed performers to receive multiple nominations in the same category.

Last year, the Academy invited Stephen Graham, Jodie Comer and Ariana Grande to join.
