Aaron Katz's Quiet City is a minimalist independent movie set in Brooklyn, where a woman in her 20s meets a young slacker when she asks for directions in a deserted subway station. They spend the next 24 hours together doing little of interest. The film has the dull ring of truth, Katz is talented, and the film is an advance on his previous outing, Dance Party, USA, which accompanies it. But he could do with a writer.
