This Italian film by Saverio Costanzo has an intriguing severity and austerity, and a refreshing high seriousness. Yet after promising much, it leads nowhere, either emotionally or spiritually. Christo Jivkov plays Andrea, an intelligent and high-minded young man who joins a seminary in Venice, with a view to becoming a priest. There are many long silences, which finally become implausible and dramatically frustrating.
