There were interesting things going on in this determinedly low-key, low-budget British ensemble movie from first-time director Col Spector - a subversion of the 90s-style relationship drama. Steven Mangan (from TV's Green Wing) plays David, a photographer who is cheating on his long-term girlfriend Lisa (Susan Lynch) with flakey Nina (Lara Belmont). Selfish, conceited, yet plagued with a confused need to do the right thing, David opts for the discomforts of serial monogamy rather than those of infidelity. He winds up faced with a future of loneliness. No one in the film is sympathetic in the approved manner: egotism and anxiety cloud relationships and Spector daringly withholds a happy ending. A worthwhile debut.
