The authorities in Kazakhstan, angered by the British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's satirical portrayal of a sexist and racist Kazakh television reporter, have pulled the plug on his alter ego's website, borat.kz. Nurlan Isin of Kazakhstan's official regulator said the site had been suspended "so he can't badmouth Kazakhstan under the .kz domain name". Last month Baron Cohen, who also plays Ali G, hosted the MTV Europe music awards as Borat, where he described shooting dogs for fun and said his wife could not leave Kazakhstan because she was a woman.
