A teeth-grindingly saccharine seasonal cash-in, in which various unhappy souls - including nervy editor Susan Sarandon and pouting paralegal Penélope Cruz - float around the Big Apple as the snow shimmers to the ground, paths criss-crossing in that cutie-pie ensemble-drama manner.

But any subtleties of performance are drowned out by the way the screenplay and direction can't stop hollering about REDEMPTION!! every few minutes. The ickiness event horizon is reached with an uncredited Robin Williams appearance; his smarminess rating is completely off the scale.
