There's an uncompromisingly laid-back sense of pace in this Jamaican-set movie of star-crossed lovers from co-directors Rick Elgood and Don Letts. Ky-Mani Marley, son of Bob, stars as a Rasta musician called Kassa who falls in love with a beautiful gospel singer (Cherine Anderson), to the fury of her fierce preacher dad. Meanwhile, Kassa's band get mixed up with some dodgy record producers and voodoo creepos.
The action sequences showing Kassa and Serena breaking into a safe could be compared to Nancy Drew - that's if the Hardy Boys were in an exceptionally chilled-out mood. Chris Browne's recent Kingston thriller Third World Cop showed a tougher approach to action. But Ky-Mani is the dead heartwarming spit of his dad.
