James is a pious, wide-eyed young African Christian on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, but his dreams of "Zion's light in his heart" are put into perspective the moment he arrives in Tel Aviv and is thrown into prison.

Part-fable, part-social realism, this relaxed little film, offers an intriguing outsider's view of Israel and a detailed demonstration of how money can erode even the purest morals. It would be dangerous territory had the film not been directed by an Israeli. Since it is, and it won a clutch of awards back home, perhaps it has some valid criticisms to make - of Israeli society and those who seek to romanticise it.
