As Jennifer Tilly puts it herself: "I'm an Oscar nominee for Christ's sake, now I'm fucking a puppet!" Tilly slums it so enthusiastically here, her self-deprecation borders on career suicide, but her one-liners are just about the only good thing in this fifth part of the Child's Play franchise.
To fill you in, Chucky is a sort of white-trash psycho killer trapped in the body of a nasty-looking rubber doll. In the last movie he acquired a vampy doll-mate, Tiffany (voiced by Tilly), and somehow now they have a child - an effete English doll who looks like a young Ziggy Stardust. Ziggy tracks down his parents in Hollywood, where their paths cross with the real Jennifer Tilly. What follows is a mess of bloody slashings, celebrity satire, and artificial insemination that's joyously campy but tiresomely outrageous.
