Renee Zellweger was orginally due to join co-star Catherine Zeta Jones on stage during last night's Oscars, but allegedly pulled out at the eleventh hour due to stage fright. "She's an actress, not a performer," a source close to Zellweger told reporters. "[She's] uncomfortable singing in front of people."

An Oscar win is already having an effect on the fortunes of Spirited Away, which triumphed in the animated feature category. Hayao Miyazaki's film, which opened in the US in September last year on 26 screens, is to be rereleased by Disney this Friday on over 800 screens. However, that still amounts to only about a quarter of the number of screens that the average Disney production is shown on.
