In brief: Bond 20 premieres at royal screening

Plus: Eric Idle shoots The Remains of The Piano, a Merchant-Ivory spoof

Die Another Day, the 20th James Bond movie, and Pierce Brosnan's fourth and final outing as 007, will receive its world premiere at the Royal Film Performance in London on November 18. While the venue has yet to be confirmed, the event will be attended by either the Queen or Prince Charles. The Royal Film Performance is the chief fundraiser for the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund, which was formed in 1924 to look after retired industry professionals. Die Another Day also stars Halle Berry who won an Oscar for her performance in the gritty drama Monster's Ball.

Eric Idle is making a Merchant-Ivory spoof called The Remains of the Piano in Canada this summer. "It's got everything a Merchant-Ivory film has: lovely costumes, lovely sets and lovely English acting," Idle told Canadian provincial newspaper the London Free Press. The picture will star Geoffrey Rush (Quills, The Tailor of Panama) and is scheduled to shoot in Toronto. Idle directed a Beatles spoof in 1978 called The Rutles and recently completed the sequel, Can't Buy Me Lunch.
