Dr Julius No
Played by Joseph Wiseman in the 1962 film, he was the first Bond villain. The twisted millionaire duels with Bond to the death and is left to drown in a vat of boiling radioactive water. Both Noel Coward and Christopher Lee turned down the role. Wiseman continued to act, starring in Buck Rogers in the 25th century in the 1980s. He is still going strong at 83.
Ernst Stavro Blofeld
He has been played by four actors in five films. The first was Anthony Dawson in From Russia with Love (1963) and Thunderball (1965). He was followed by Donald Pleasence, in You only Live Twice (1967), Telly Savalas, in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) and Charles Gray in Diamonds are Forever (1971). The best remembered is arguably Pleasence, whose scar-faced character lives inside a volcano and schemes to initiate a third world war. Pleasance died in 1995.
Oddjob
The loyal servant of money-mad Goldfinger was played by the muscular Harold Sakatar. Oddjob's steel-rimmed bowler hat is used to decapitate many an enemy. Unfortunately the weapon proves to be his end, when when he is electrocuted by it after duelling with Bond in Fort Knox. The weightlifting actor went on to star in many martial arts films and died in 1982 on his native Hawaii.
Nick Nack
Played by Herve Villechaize in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). Nick Nack is employed to lure challengers to try their luck in a shootout with his boss, Christopher Lee's Scaramanga. The 3ft 6in Villechaize became a big star in the television series Fantasy Island in the 1970s. He died in California, aged 50, in 1993 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Jaws
Richard Kiel played the terrifying villain, so named because of his metal teeth, in the Spy Who Loved Me (1977).
One would have thought Roger Moore's Bond would be no match for the 7ft 6in Jaws, but with his quick wit he manages to throw him out of a moving train after a fantastic fight. Jaws survives to reappear in a rather more comic role in Moonraker (1979).
Richard Kiel lost out on playing the Incredible Hulk in the 1980s as he was not bulky enough. He was last seen in the 1999 film Inspector Gadget where he played the Famous Guy With Metal Teeth.
Dr Kananga
Yaphet Kotto played the seriously evil Jekyll and Hyde character in Live and Let Die (1973). On the surface a law abiding diplomat but in truth a drug dealing Mr Big. Came to a rather nasty end when he was blown up after swallowing a compressed gas bullet.
