• Morgan Freeman may be coming to Britain to play Othello with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Negotiations are currently underway to bring the Oscar-nominated star to Stratford-upon-Avon, London and New York. According to Ananova, the company is also keen to cast Ralph Fiennes in Ibsen's classic, Brand, and it is hoped that Kenneth Branagh will make a comeback with the RSC.
• Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has made the ultimate cinematic faux pas in his new film - by mentioning his knighthood in the credits. According to Peoplenews, an audience which recently previewed Tuesday, the 13-minute animated film about frogs, winced as the credits rolled when they saw that the singer had listed himself as Sir Paul. A source told the site, "It is a little surprising for a short animation about frogs. Even Attenborough, Lloyd-Webber and Puttnam don't put their titles in the credits."
• The Academy Awards ceremony is to remain at its new Hollywood home despite security concerns after America's recent terrorist attacks. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had threatened to cancel the Oscar ceremony, due to take place at the new 3,600-seat Kodak Theatre on 24 March. However, the Academy's president Frank Pierson issued a statement on Friday saying that he was now satisfied that the event would have "the highest level of security.".The awards ceremony formerly took place at the Shrine Auditorium.
