The BBC is launching a website for Weakest Link as part of an effort to extend the popularity of the programme online.
The site, to be launched at bbc.co.uk/weakestlink, is expected to be launched by the summer.
A spokesman for the BBC confirmed that a site was "in development" but wouldn't give details of proposed site contents, aside from saying it would be "community-focused".
It is likely that the official site will be similar in content and feel to the official Australian website, located at weakestlink.i7.com.au.
The Australian site contains a virtual tour of the studio, information about the show, games, screen savers, chat forums and even a downloadable MP3 of the theme tune.
The BBC spokesman confirmed it would be seeking to remove copyrighted material from the unofficial Weakest Link website TWLOnline.co.uk.
"We've written to them and the ISP and asked for removal. We would normally turn a blind eye to fan sites, but this has infringed copyright by having sound samples, the logo and even a version of the game," he said.
"If they removed the copyright material then we wouldn't have to be so heavy-handed."
In the meantime, the Weakest Link is hell-bent on world domination.
Yesterday it was announced that BBC Multimedia had teamed up with games developer Activision, to develop PC and console games around the gameshow.
It is thought that, like Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, these games will eventually be fed into the official websites.
