Miles Saltiel is a director of WestLB Panmure, WestDeutsche Landesbank's investment banking arm. He is co-head of European technology research and responsible for the group's equity strategy and internet coverage.

As an undergraduate in Oxford, Mr Saltiel read politics, philosophy and economics before writing a Master's dissertation on Japanese business and government at Sussex university. He has worked in technology since 1979 when he joined GEC-Marconi.

Since 1986, he has worked in investment banking, joining the WestLB Group in 1996 to become head of equity research at West Merchant Bank. He took up his current role in 1998.
