Monster.com, the US jobs and recruitment site, today unveiled a $20m (£13.7m) pan-European advertising campaign that gently mocks people's misguided attempts to claw their way up the career ladder.

The campaign, created by Saatchi & Saatchi, breaks later this month in 15 European countries including the UK. It will run on television, press, radio, posters and the internet. The television commercials were shot by Fredrik Bond, the award-winning Swedish director whose credits include campaigns for Adidas, Guinness and Skoda.

The television campaign features a series of characters trying unsuccessfully to impress their bosses. In one ad, a young man playing in goal at the office football match performs an aggressive tackle on his boss, with disastrous effects. In another, an ambitious young woman's plans to impress her boss with her golfing technique backfire when she becomes overly competitive.

The strapline is: "For career advice worth listening to and thousands of jobs visit monster.co.uk, the world's leading career network."

Separately, Monster.com yesterday awarded its $75m (£51m) US advertising account to Arnold Communications.
