Frank Skinner is to present a new weekly talkshow promoting content on the BBC iPlayer.

The 15-minute episodes of Frank Skinner On Demand With… will feature Skinner talking to celebrities about which programming they enjoy on the iPlayer.

“As a kid, I had a recurring dream that I was alone in the local toy shop and could help myself to anything I fancied,” said Skinner. “BBC iPlayer feels a bit like that dream. But now I’m allowed to take a playmate, to show me the things they love that I might have missed.”

The first three interviewees on the show, which will debut on 13 November, will be comedians Lee Mack and Josh Widdicombe, plus presenter Zoe Ball.

The BBC said that 40% of BBC iPlayer users watch shows they have never heard of before.

“[The show] is a fantastic way of helping audiences find out more about the wealth of programmes we have in BBC iPlayer,” said Victoria Jaye, head of TV content for the BBC iPlayer. “This show is reinventing ‘word of mouth’ for the on-demand audience.”
