News that a sequel to Zoolander is coming broke last month. Penelope Cruz will star in it, and Justin Theroux will write the screenplay. Hyped on expectation, naturally our thoughts turned back to the original film 13 years ago which, from a fashion perspective, not only provided a witty and satirical take on the industry but also threw up some terrifyingly prophetic trends, half of which can be found in the current AW14 season. Take Harvey Nichols which recently launched its trend forecast for 2015 and which included a shout out for flawed fashion: “2015 is all about unique ‘flaws’ such as unusual prints, embellishments and rips”. Pricey, posh, purposefully damaged fashion you know, like Mugatu’s “derelicte”.

Below is proof that all AW14 roads lead back to Zoolander:

1. Geometric Prints

2. The Onesie

3. Ath-leisure
