BBC News unveils its new look today. It's always a little risky to depend on first impressions of a new design, especially when the old one was very familiar. But at the moment it feels like clarity, especially on the index pages, appears to have been sacrificed in the name of... width? More links? It's hard to scan your eye across, to suss what's going on at a glance (which the old look allowed you to do very well). It reminds me a lot of the horrific guddle of links that is the Washington Post home page, and seems a step back from the trend towards clean lines and clarity on the web. Anyone any thoughts?
