One of the commercial radio industry's most active advocates, Rachell Fox, is jumping ship to promote the BBC's radio and new media services.
Ms Fox has quit her job as operations director of the Commercial Radio Companies Association, the trade body for commercial radio companies in the UK, where she fought for the interests of BBC rivals including Capital Radio and GWR.
She will take up a newly created role at the BBC Radio and Music New Media as new media liaison manager in September.
A central part of her role will be working on the profile of digital radio and explaining the BBC's commitment to it to the industry: manufacturers, retailers and commercial radio.
BBC Radio and Music New Media is responsible for the development of the corporation's radio and music brands across all new media platforms, including digital radio (DAB), the internet and digital television.
The department's portfolio includes Radios 1 to Five Live Online, BBC Music Online and a number of specialist music sites, such as the BBC Proms site.
"Her skills and knowledge will be a tremendous asset to the team," said Simon Nelson, the controller of new media at BBC Radio and Music.
