Roger Draper has culled about a third of the staff at the Lawn Tennis Association, but those that remain were ordered to down tools and watch Andy Murray's five-set defeat to Rafael Nadal yesterday afternoon.

The LTA has a significant financial stake in the Scot, paying his coach Brad Gilbert's £500,000-plus wages.

The match provided BBC Online with its largest ever audience for tennis, with 129,000 people following on its website.
