Kevin Smith is to make "a comic-book sci-fi movie" in the vein of Flash Gordon entitled Ranger Danger and the Danger Rangers, provided his next two projects, Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Red State, don't "put him in movie jail". Smith told MTV: "Depending on what happens with the next two. They might try to stick me in movie jail. But I've fucked up way worse in the past. If they didn't do it after [2004's critically derided romantic comedy] Jersey Girl I think I'm OK". Smith's most recent film was 2006's Clerks II, a follow-up to his breakout 1994 movie.

With I Am Legend currently wowing audiences around the world it seems that the inevitable is about to happen: a sequel could be in the pipeline. According to reports Richard Matheson, author of the 1958 novel upon which the book is based, has signed over rights to a sequel for the hit movie. I Am Legend screenwriter Mark Protosevich will reportedly put pen to paper again on the sequel.

Colin Hanks - son of Tom - and Jeff Daniels are reportedly in talks to join the cast of Steven Spielberg's planned movie about the anti-Vietnam war protests that wrecked the 1968 Democratic national convention. According to reports, the actors are in line to portray two of the defendants in the "Chicago Seven" trial which followed the protestors' arrests. Previous reports have suggested Sasha Baron Cohen is to take the lead role of activist Abbie Hoffman. The as-yet-untitled production is scheduled for 2010.
