A charming if slightly ramshackle film about female football fans' attempts to sneak into the World Cup qualifying decider between Iran and Bahrain. It builds considerable momentum, partly from extreme claustrophobia - like the lead characters, we are in the presence of a key game with a 100,000 crowd but prevented from seeing any of the match - and partly from sly social commentary. The juxtapositions are telling: fans wear Ronaldo and Inter Milan shirts, paint flags on their faces and chant raucous football songs along with a "God bless the prophet" chant. Writer-director Jafar Panahi filmed most of his footage on matchday, using the joyous celebrations that saw Iran go through to Germany .
