Working Title's spoof spy movie Johnny English has become a serious international hit after racking up more than $50m (£32m) in the UK and 35 other countries in under two weeks, Screen Daily reports.
The movie, which stars Rowan Atkinson as a bumbling spy who must thwart an evil despot, scored a string of table-topping openings around the world and stayed at number one in the UK, where it has amassed £8.6m in two weeks.
The movie now looks on course to challenge the previous Rowan Atkinson outing Mr Bean, one of the most successful British films of all time.
Other Working Title hits include Bridget Jones's Diary, Notting Hill and About A Boy.
The production company is also behind the romantic comedy Love Actually, writer Richard Curtis' directorial debut. The new film boasts an embarrassment of British talent, including Hugh Grant in the lead role, and is due to open in cinemas later this year.
