For energy and disarming fun, the combination of Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson is hard to beat.
They are reunited in this action comedy thriller, set in Ye Olde Victorian London, where they get to meet Arthur Conan Doyle, Queen Victoria and Jack the Ripper - whose ass gets well and truly kicked.
It's the sequel to Shanghai Noon, but why no punning title this time? (Shanghai Society? Shanghai Anxiety? Shanghai Falutin'?) Chan's films traditionally involve action in or around an intercontinental hotel, and this is no exception. And as ever, there are wacky and enjoyable out-takes, a key showcase for Chan's charm. Wilson has a brilliantly funny scene, being pointlessly cruel to an orphan.
I could have done with more of that - but I'm not complaining.
