The Funk Brothers are the most non-famous legendary band in history. The house studio band for Motown in its glory days, they played on, and contributed to the composition of numberless massive hits, including Heat Wave, My Guy, Dancin' In The Streets, Stop In The Name of Love, Heard It Through The Grapevine - and many more.

But they emerge from this movie as very much a backing band, who only erupt when they have a guest lead singer. Is there no one of their generation, some unheralded BB King-type figure who can carry a vocal line up front?
