This entertaining scary movie isn't overly burdened with originality, but it's an enjoyable watch with some nicely creepy moments. The title calls to mind the classic about giant mutant ants - Them! - but this one somehow suggests a classier, more grammatical breed of victim. ("Ohmigard it's...they !") Robert "The Hitcher" Harmon directs a film that concerns a bunch of pulchritudinous young adults who have something in common: a fear of the dark when they were little kids. But then one of them, profoundly disturbed, commits suicide, raving about how "they" have come to get him again; his best friend Julia (Laura Regan - one of the housemates in Marc Evans's My Little Eye) a psychology student, has every reason to disbelieve his story - and then freaks right out when "they" come for her too. A serviceable Friday night movie.
