"Minimas" is right. There is a conscious, even contrived lack of consequence to this Argentinian portmanteau movie from Carlos Sorin, using non-professionals, about three individuals making their vulnerable way across Patagonia. It's like a very, very sexed-down version of Amores Perros.
Maria (Javiera Bravo) is a young woman travelling to take part in a game show in which she has a chance of winning a food processor; Roberto (Javier Lombardo) is taking a birthday cake to the child of the woman he is not so secretly in love with; Don Justo (Antonio Benedictti) has just been told that his dog Badface, who left him three years ago, has been seen in a nearby town - so he's going to track him down, and it is in Don Justo's story that the emotional heart of the movie resides.
None of three "historias" here concludes with anything like a satisfying twist, and in fact they taper off a little. But this is a gentle film with a pleasing sense of calm and compassion. It has quiet, unassuming charm.
