Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son – review

The third part of the Big Momma's House franchise is the least funny of them all, writes Philip French

Black (as in "African-American" rather than "darkly humorous") comedian Martin Lawrence revisits the character of FBI agent Malcolm Turner that he played in Big Momma's House and its sequel. In this cross between Beverly Hills Cop and Some Like it Hot, Turner's in drag again, along with his stroppy hip-hop son, staking out a dormitory at the Georgia Girls School for the Arts. They're on the run from Russian mafiosi and searching for a flash drive containing incriminating evidence. Can there really be a comparative and a superlative for "unfunny"? It doesn't make sense to describe this witless, embarrassing third film in the Big Momma franchise as "the unfunniest".
