A gloomy tale from Argentina about a sensitive young poet who is falling into the grip of Aids-related illnesses, and starts a chronicle of what he thinks is the last year of his life. His quest for human contact takes him through a string of ghoulishly-filmed S/M encounters, as a result of which he finds the bullet-headed flagellator of his dreams. Berneri is determined to keep the rest of the film as matter-of-fact as possible, but the pacing verges on the soporific.
