A truthful but sad Turkish film follows the lives of three men connected by Istanbul's grand viaduct, writes Philip French

The film's eponymous viaduct is the grand suspension bridge that crosses the Bosphorus to link the European and Asian parts of Istanbul. The men are a young motorcycle cop from remote eastern Turkey who observes the bridge's traffic and hands out tickets to motorists using mobile phones; a dim-witted lad trying to sell roses to passing cars; and a minibus driver whose wife nags him to find a better job and a bigger flat. Like most Turkish films that reach this country, it is truthful, sad and depressing.
