Now You See Me – review

Movie magic is in short supply in this star-studded drama about four illusionists, writes Catherine Shoard

Magic at the movies is always a bit of a swizz – you really need a stage and a select few to show off any sleight of hand.

Louis Leterrier overcompensates with roundabout camerawork and enough bright lights to make Vegas seem retiring. Add an overcomplicated premise whose twist you guess before you even twig it was meant to be a twist (and yet which still seems to leave a rat's nest of loose ends) and you've got a fairly unmagical couple of hours at the cinema.
