The considerable talents of Steve Carell and Tina Fey are largely wasted in a slack, vulgar, unoriginal comedy about a quiet, middle-class, New Jersey couple who cross the Hudson one evening to rediscover the magic in their fading marriage in Manhattan. Their excursion turns into a nightmare when they're mistaken for petty criminals attempting to blackmail a top gangster. The central duo's personalities change with startling regularity and they're accompanied, though not much helped, by several minor stars making pale cameo appearances (several uncredited).
