Static, the interactive TV company behind the digital gaming channel, Playjam, is bucking the prevailing trend by expanding its sales team.

The move comes as Static - which was recently acquired by the American interactive TV giant, OpenTV - gears up to launch a number of channels.

Tom Geuterbock, who joins as media sales manager, was formerly the client sales director at Fingertips, the Channel 4-backed entertainment listings site.

Mark Philips, previously of Carlton Digital, joins Static as account manager.

The pair will be charged with finding sponsors for the channel, offering them the chance to integrate their brands into Playjam's games.

Peter Lilley, the director of media sales at Static, is developing the sales team in an effort to capitalise on the popularity of Playjam.

He said: "Interactive TV campaigns are now being treated as a serious alternative to traditional TV advertising.

"Our expansion is particularly exciting when you consider the general downturn in advertising spend."
