Internet provider Toucan is removing the term "unlimited downloads" from its website after complaints to broadband companies by uSwitch.

The price comparison group claims that despite promises of "unlimited" broadband, all broadband companies disconnect customers considered to be using their broadband to excess.

In response to calls for an advertising ban on "unlimited" broadband unless it really has no limit, Toucan yesterday agreed to remove the wording.

uSwitch estimates 9 million users risk losing their service because they believe their service offers genuine unlimited access.
