Jamie Spafford never planned on becoming a culinary YouTube star. After he and his three friends left school, they all went their separate ways. When they met up for a drink, they would discuss how most of them couldn’t cook, apart from Ben, who was training to be a chef.
What started with Ben writing recipes on beer mats for his friends has developed into a YouTube food channel, SortedFood, which now has more than a million subscribers.
Co-founder of the channel, Jamie Spafford, will be hosting a live stream with Eileen Naughton, the managing director of Google UK and Ireland, about how the world of innovation and technology is increasingly converging with business, creating a wealth of opportunities for all the budding technophiles and entrepreneurs in your classroom.
We will be live streaming Jamie’s interview with Eileen on this page on Thursday 11 December from 9:05am to 10.05am – there is an embedded stream just below this text. Just remember, the video will be streamed using YouTube so you will need to remove any network blocks before Thursday.
There are lots of ways your students can get involved too. You can tweet questions or have your say in the conversation using #S4SSTEM. Here are some questions you might want to ask:
• What do you think will be the most exciting opportunities for young people in the tech-business sector in the next 20 years?
• What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs?
• What will be the next big tech innovation?
