Our Guardian Cities and Barbican City Visions film competition challenged readers around the world to make a three-minute film about their city – in any style. This week, as we look forward to the unveiling of the winners at the Guardian Cities Surprise Screening at the Barbican on 27 September, we take a look at some of the best entries. In this roundup we discover the windows of Beirut, tread the wards of Chicago and get drawn in to the rhythms of London’s Circle Line.
Beirut

Ours is a city of contrasting personalities and complex characters – each personified by her many intriguing windows. We invite you to join us in our visual serenade to the windows of Beirut.

Toronto
An Ode to Toronto
I consider Toronto and London my homes, but I decided to pay homage to Toronto in this film. This short forms part of an on-going project I have to walk and explore all 44 wards of the city. (This video is only a fraction of them.) Enjoy!

London
Circle Line
My vision of London, early morning commuters and the rhythm's of the underground.
