Morrissey joins Twitter, ‘the perfect metaphor for … something’

Singer and antagonist has joined the social network ahead of the release of his new album, World Peace is None of Your Business

Morrissey, who has long used the web to deliver diatribes against meat-eating and other bugbears, has joined Twitter – and, so far, has tweeted twice.

For now, Morrissey only follows one user – his label, Harvest Records. His former Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr isn't yet following him.

Morrissey's newfound social networking voice comes as he gears up to release his latest album, World Peace is None of Your Business, featuring almost self-parodic titles such as Earth Is the Loneliest Planet and Staircase at the University. The title track was released this week as a single.
