Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s – review

Don't buy into this fawning, attention-deficit infomercial of a documentary on the New York department store, writes Steve Rose

Even people who find fashion really, really interesting will be bludgeoned brain-dead by this fawning, attention-deficit infomercial of a documentary. The history of the swanky New York department store is told principally through 30-second soundbites from designers and celebrities, and obsequious interviews with the shop's personnel, all of whom presume themselves to be fabulously interesting and talented and influential. The fact that Bergdorf Goodman's success might just have something to do with the huge concentration of billionaires on its doorstep is only fleetingly acknowledged. Otherwise, this is a sealed bubble of elitist self-absorption, too boring even for comedy value – though it's a reminder that a Zoolander sequel is long overdue.
