Arriving in time to ride the wave of hype preceding the new film, Star Trek the game tells a side story about Kirk and Spock buddying up to save the galaxy from a doomsday device stolen by thieving lizard men, the Gorn. Like fellow well-intentioned but eventually awful sci-fi film adaptation Aliens: Colonial Marines, this is clearly made by people wanting desperately to produce a decent game. Unfortunately, despite occasional moments of interest, its clunky climbing mechanics make it wearyingly pedestrian.
