At first glance, gov.uk may not look like a great work of design – let alone the Design of the Year, selected by the Design Museum. But that's the point. Its creators at the Government Digital Service used the motto "simpler, clearer, faster" to come up with a pared down site that provides a single place to do everything from passport applications to adoptions.
Have you used it? Is it an outstanding example of digital design? And did it deserve to beat other 2013 nominees – including a reinvented, foldable wheel, a medicine pack called the AidPod (designed to slot into Coca-Cola crates) and Thomas Heatherwick's Olympic cauldron? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
