Desire – review

A drama by veteran TV director Gareth Jones that is accomplished if somewhat laboured, says Andrew Pulver

DESIRE film still
Heart to heart ... Desire Photograph: PR

An enterprising production, this: shot entirely inside a single London house with a handful of actors, and self-distributed. It's clearly a labour of love for writer-director Gareth Jones: an elaborately-crafted mood piece about a scriptwriter whose own marital difficulties blur with the screenplay he's working on. In truth, it's a somewhat laboured conceit, but the accomplished cast and pin-sharp visuals help things along.
