Keep watching hard as Google TV is launched this autumn in the US – with apps for the Cartoon Network, CNN, CNBC, Home Box Office and 75,000 Amazon movies on demand. The computer-cum-front-parlour-television-set revolution is hitting the ground running. And yet, and yet… You can never have enough content at moments like this; you need your own cupboard stuffed full of goodies. How long before Google – revenues in the last quarter up 24% to $5.1bn (£3.2bn) – begins to bid for its own football, baseball and boxing rights? How long before it makes big drama, as well as buys it in? How long before those very big bucks make even larger waves?
