This is a very welcome rerelease of Demy's delightful 1967 musical, a homage to Minnelli, Donen and MGM. It's a bittersweet tale set in the pastel-painted port of Rochefort, where lovers are destined to meet, reunite or break up to delightfully lilting songs by Michel Legrand, all of which move the story along. The most memorable number, "A Pair of Twins Born Under the Sign of the Gemini", is performed by sisters Deneuve and Dorléac.
