Joseph L Mankiewicz's wonderfully literate 1950 classic drama of the theatrical life, All About Eve, is back in the cinema, to be savoured for its language, performances, psychological insights and proof that all the world's a stage. It appeared almost simultaneously with the screen version of A Streetcar Named Desire, and in 1999 Pedro Almodovar brought them together to make All About My Mother, the last great film of the 20th century.
