A tweed-clad buffoon has proved mightier than an army of muscled Spartan warriors: Mr Bean's Holiday reached the top of the worldwide box office this week, toppling the epic 300 from the No 1 spot.
The Rowan Atkinson comedy, which sees Mr Bean holidaying on the French Riviera with catastrophic consequences, took over $33m (£16.6m) in 26 countries.
One place below finds 300 with earnings of $30m (£15m) in 52 nations. Zack Snyder's chest-thumping action spectacular had dominated the charts for the previous two weeks and has so far earned more than $125m (£63.2m) outside America.
Rounding out the top three was the Disney animated feature Meet The Robinsons. The film tells the tale of a brilliant boy inventor, who time travels to find the dastardly people who have stolen his latest innovation. In its opening week, the film grossed $8.5m (£4.3m) in 22 countries.
