Anthony Minghella's golden partnership with Jude Law is set to continue, if the director has anything to do with it: he wants to make at least five more films with his favourite actor.

Minghella's last three films have featured Law. The Talented Mr Ripley and Cold Mountain earned Oscar nominations for Law, and the latest, Breaking and Entering, had its world premiere at the Toronto film festival last night.

"I would be happy to make every movie with Jude. I'd be lucky to," Minghella told a festival press conference, adding: "Sydney [Pollack], who I follow as best I can around the film-making world, worked, I think, seven times with Robert Redford and that was an amazing collaboration... I want to get to eight at least with Jude."

"The shorthand is that we understand each other, I suppose.... If something works, then stick with it," Law told the press conference.

Breaking and Entering's cast also reunites Minghella with Juliette Binoche, who starred in his Oscar-garlanded The English Patient.

The film follows how a landscape architect's life changes when he confronts the leader of a gang of young thieves who break into his office, leading him on a journey of discovery of himself and the London he lives in.
